Holistic Ways To Increases Your Chances Of Conception

Posted on: 8 August 2019

There are few times more exciting in a couple's life than when they're trying to have a baby. The anticipation of holding a little bundle of joy is an incredible feeling. On the flip side, however, when pregnancy doesn't occur as quickly as a couple might hope, it can be frustrating and sometimes downright devastating. Medical professionals often can help these couples, but there are steps couples can take to increase their possibility of conception before seeking a doctor's help. Read on for some tips.

Live a Healthy Lifestyle

Maintaining a healthy weight and an active lifestyle is important for both members of a couple trying to conceive. Excess fat can disrupt a body's hormone balance, making conception more challenging. A diet full of fruits and vegetables and lean proteins will help both members of a couple keep or reach a healthy weight. Exercise can also keep the body running more efficiently, and it will help prepare a woman for the physical challenges of pregnancy and childbirth. Couples can have fun with this by beginning an exercise program together.

Cut Out Stress

People often hear stories from other couples that as soon as they stop trying to conceive, they find out they're pregnant. The reason behind these stories is stress. The waiting and wondering of trying to conceive can be stress-inducing, and ending the stress can help the body conceive. Extreme stress floods the body with stress hormones, which can change the body's chemistry and affect ovulation. It also can negatively impact sperm production, so take a meditation class together and get relaxed!

Try Supplements

Some studies show that there are supplements that can help improve someone's chances of conception. Supplements can be taken individually, or they can be taken together in a blend, in things such as fertility herbal teas. Red raspberry leaf tea can help strengthen a woman's entire reproductive system and is also helpful during pregnancy and during the postpartum period. Some doctors recommend discontinuing its use during the first trimester of pregnancy, so speak to your doctor if you use this leaf. Red clover is also a popular ingredient of fertility herbal teas because it contains plant estrogens. Other supplements to consider include maca, bee pollen, and royal jelly.

Be Aware of Monthly Cycles

None of these methods will help improve the chances of conception if a couple isn't aware of their monthly fertile days. Couples can track cycles together to discover the ideal two- to three-day window during each month when the woman is ovulating and they're most likely to conceive.
